Gateway ID and NV

Here comes Gateway with more new releases. It has been a big year for Acer/Gateway (Gateway is a subsidiary of Acer) from the announcements of cell phones, desktops, tablets and the Acer Ethos which I will introduce in my next blog.


 Gateway has been around for years now and they have been upgrading their units at every chance they get to be able to match and surpass the other laptop manufacturers. The ID-series and the NV-series are the perfect laptops to choose from which range from 13" to 17" and usually quiet powerful yet quiet light.

iPad...Overpriced???

Welcome back everyone to another post of me hating on Apple! I am kidding, I have a couple Apple products myself and love them. So let's get back on track. Is the iPad and the new iPad 2 overpriced? YES!

Lets look at these figures that after a lot of research and answers from Wall Street and Hardware Experts here is how much the iPad 2 really worth.

Apple A5 Processor is priced at $15
512mb of Ram is priced at $28
Warranty is priced at $20
Manufacturing of the iPad 2 is priced at $10

Camera priced at $3
WIFI Interface is priced at $11
Apple OS priced at $38
Charger priced at $6
Transfer cable priced at $4
Packing priced at $17

Total Manufacturing price: $290.00
Apple Retail price: $629.00

So if I am correct that is about $339 in profit which equal out to roughly about 53% profit margin.
These are true facts. 


Next time you go and by an Apple product, and people tell you they can't move on the price. Throw them this number and watch their eyes open real wide.

The Arc is Back!

Yes the underrated Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is finally out! As I am a huge fan of Sony, owning the PS3, PSP, PSP Go, Xperia X10 and a Vaio laptop, I have been anxiously waiting for this device to hit the shelf. Time to break the piggy bank and find $600 to be contract free!

As some of you might not know anything about this phone so lets start at the basics.  My first point is this phone absolutely kills the iPhone.  Do not argue! The figures will prove my point.

• The Arc is thinner than the iPhone 4 and curves to perfectly sit in your hand. Hence  "Arc".

• iPhone 4 screen is 3.5inches and the Arc's screen is 4.2inches. Not only is it bigger, but it uses the Sony Bravia Engine so you really see the difference.

• On performance it is a dead standstill, aside from full multitasking which the iPhone does not support to date.

• With camera quality, there is no fight here. The Arc sports an 8-megapixel camera as the iPhone a 5-megapixel.

As you can see the iPhone 4 can not keep up to the Arc is a lot of fields. But I am not saying go out and buy the Arc right away like I am going to. Give the Arc a chance and check it out next time your in a store and you will see what i am on about. None the less the iPhone 4 is unbelievable sexy in black or white.

Android and Acer

I owned everything from the SymbianOS from Nokia, to the Blackberry OS, to iOS from Apple and finally went to Android, and I am never going back MUHAHAHAHA.


So about Android OS and why is it better than the famous Apple OS. Well lets make a couple pointers.

• Android can run multiple apps. ( Well so can Apple but with apple its only a couple of their apps you can run in the background. With Android any and all apps can be run at the same time.)

You don't need to open anything

• Android has Widgets ( Basicly you don't have to open an app to see something, it is all on your home screen

• Android has a better App market.  ( Yes Apple has more apps, but Android has about 10,000 apps bet week added, and a lot of the apps are free )

Just a few devices with Android

• Android lets you choose your hardware!!!  ( This is the main peace. Almost every single brand has over 10 devices to choose from that carry the Android OS)

• Android fits your budget!!! Phones ranging from $100 to $1000 have Android. From block phones, to touchscreens, to flip phones and to touch screens with hard keyboards.

So I ask this question. Why pick Apple and the iPhone, or iPad, or etc?

Apple is just a fad, a fashion and a hype. It will go out of style. It's like walking down the street with 4 of your friends and 4 of them are dressed identically. NOT COOL!

Back to Edmonton

             I'm back to the City of Champions! Funny how it's called that since, the last time we won a championship was year ago. Why not call Edmonton the City of Two Seasons ( Two Seasons as in we only get the Winter season and the Construction Season), everywhere you turn you see construction "SLOW DOWN", yes I slow down, but come on why get a sporty car when you can't even get over 50km/h in an 80km/h zone. 

Anyways I kinda drifted of course here, since I am suppose to talk about technology, well not today. I just got back from my vacation and would like to show you where I have been. Click here to check out the Pictures from London, Rome and Ukraine.

One things I do have to mention is Europe is a totally different world. From my point of view, London is a chaotic but very organized city. ie: If you stand on the left side of the escalator, someone will hit you in the head and everywhere you step you will see either a Mercedes S-class, BMW 7-series.   Rome on the other hand is very relaxed city with lots of people in black suits with light blue shirts, and I mean ONLY light blue shirts! Aside from the blue shirt madness in Rome, the scenery is jaw dropping.  Don't forget to check out the pictures here.
